Elizabeth Malland, 48, who had no local address, was killed a 8 p.m. Jan. 2 when she was crossing North Nimitz highway at Kalihi street. Police said she was not in a crosswalk. Malland was walking against the traffic light when she was struck by a a Jeep Compass rental car, driven by a 49-year-old man, headed east on North Nimitz Highway. She was taken in critical condition to the Queen's Medical Center where she died. Authorities said Malland was homeless. The cause of death was multiple blunt trauma. She was Oahu's second traffic fatality in 2015.
