Aulani Halemano, 32, of Waianae died Tuesday, Sept. 22 after she was struck by a vehicle on Farrington Highway in Nanakuli, police said. The crash happened about 8:20 a.m. near Mohihi Street and Farrington Highway, police said. The woman was crossing in a crosswalk when she was hit by a vehicle driven by a 22-year-old Waianae man, police said. She was taken in extremely critical condition to the Queen's Medical Center West, where she died shortly thereafter. Police arrested the driver of the vehicle at 10:40 a.m. at the accident scene on suspicion of second-degree negligent homicide and driving with a suspended license. It was the 36th traffic fatality on Oahu compared with 46 at this time last year.
